B. Tech in Civil Engineering from Mahatma Gandhi University, Kerala
Background and Research:
Neba. C. Tony is a Ph.D. research scholar in the Transportation Research and Injury Prevention Centre (TRIPC), IIT-D. Her research examines the impact of walking infrastructure on pedestrian safety perceptions and route choice, with a focus on captive pedestrians—those who rely solely on walking due to affordability constraints. Conclusions are derived based on surveys conducted in New Delhi and London. Her results revealed discrepancies between perceived and actual safety, highlighting the role of infrastructure in shaping pedestrians' route choice decisions. Captive pedestrians prioritized shorter, more direct routes and preferred passive security measures. Her study highlight the need for inclusive transport planning that integrates pedestrian needs into urban mobility frameworks.
Prior to joining IIT, Neba worked as an Assistant Professor-cum-Transport Planner at the College of Traffic Management (CTM-IRTE), Faridabad, Delhi-NCR, for 1.5 years.
