Area(s) of interest:

Transportation Economics: Data analysis, estimation, and forecasting of various transportation phenomena (flows, costs, travel times, etc.) using advanced statistical and econometric models, discrete choice modeling, and game theory.

Freight Transportation: Freight demand management, freight generation and trip generation, freight mode choice, estimation of costs, freight demand synthesis, duration modeling.

Optimization: Application of linear and integer programming techniques in transportation.

Traffic Noise Pollution Modeling: Developing mathematical models for noise pollution, distribution, origin-destination synthesis, and network assignment to assist the public/private agencies in promoting noise pollution regulations.

Background and Research:

Abhishek's current research is on freight delivery, with an emphasis on improving last-mile delivery. It is particularly important to optimize delivery routes and schedules to minimize mileage and idle time, and to electrify freight vehicles. As part of the study, he will also reduce greenhouse gas emissions, improve air quality, and reduce the impact of last-mile delivery on the environment.
