Background and Research:

Currently pursuing his PhD, Piyush's research focuses on quantifying the impact of disruptions such as urban floods on road network resilience. His work integrates real-world data-driven analyses and simulation-based approaches to evaluate how road networks are disrupted during disasters, how they adapt, and what factors contribute to their resilience. His goal is to develop a comprehensive framework for assessing and enhancing the resilience of transportation networks under disaster scenarios.

Piyush Lalwani completed his Master's thesis as a research intern at CSIR-Central Road Research Institute (CRRI). His thesis, titled "Effect of Free Left Turning Vehicles on Pedestrian Safety at Signalised Intersections", focused on evaluating the safety impact of free left-turning vehicular movements on pedestrian crossings. The study employed surrogate safety measures and was simulated using the microsimulation software VISSIM. In recognition of his academic excellence, he was awarded a Gold Medal by the Gujarat Institute of Civil Engineers and Architects (GICEA).

Piyush holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering from The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda (2019), and a Diploma in Civil Engineering (2016) from Tolani Foundation Gandhidham Polytechnic (TFGP), where he secured the first rank across Gujarat, earning him another Gold Medal.
